The folks over at Slack have just announced that a beta version of their application with the same name is now available for Windows Phone users.

The application has been teased for quite some time now, but an exact release date wasn't available. According to developers, they have been working hard to open their Windows Phone beta program to all users who've been waiting for Slack.

More importantly, everyone can participate into the beta by downloading Slack beta. Obviously, since the application is not yet finished, it has some rough edges and some known issues that are likely to be addressed in future updates.

In fact, Slack has already provided Windows Phone users with a list of known issues, so they don't report them again. Here are some of the issues that will be fixed in future versions:

- Live tile notification text is not cleared when that message is read; - The unread messages blue bar in a channel doesn't always automatically dismiss when the newest message initially appears on the screen; - Text input areas sometimes receive focus when navigating causing the keyboard to open.

Developers also announced some of the new features and improvements they plan to implement next. Here are some of them: file uploads, multi-team support, Search, performance enhancements, mentions / emoji auto-complete.

You can now download Slack Beta for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
