We had been hearing rumors that Samsung was working on a foldable smartphone even before MWC 2014, and a few months later, it was revealed that the Korean tech giant dubbed the initiative “Project Valley” or “Project V.”

Back then, we also shared with you the information according to which Sammy would have this device ready as soon as 2016. Well, we’re now a few months away from stepping into a new year, and this week, we finally get more information about the elusive Project V.

According to a leak coming out of Weibo and picked up by G for Games, Samsung might go on to unveil the mythical foldable smartphone as soon as January 2016.

The source says that the phone is currently being tested out in two different configurations, one with a Snapdragon 620 under the hood and the other one with a Snapdragon 820.

Both versions will come bundling 3GB of RAM and (users, rejoice) a microSD card slot for expandable storage and a built-in, non-removable battery under the hood. It seems that Samsung is taking the Snapdragon 820 chipset quite seriously, as we’re being told the company is focused on testing the silicon piece in order to ensure no problems arise in the near future.

Samsung has also been rumored to work on implementing Qualcomm’s next-gen platform into its upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship, but it appears there’ll be more high-end devices coming out of the company and taking advantage of this system-on-chip.
