Major carrier Sprint has just announced that Android 5.1 Lollipop is now available for download for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

According to the carrier, the software update will be released in stages, so it can take up to several days until it reaches all Galaxy Note Edge units.

Those who already received notifications on the update should simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

However, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge owners can also check for Android 5.1 Lollipop manually by heading to Settings / About Device / Software Update / and tap OK when the update pops up on the display.

Android 5.1 Lollipop brings a few tweaks and bug fixes for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, but Sprint is rather stingy when it comes to sharing details regarding the update.

The only information the carrier has confirmed on its support website is the fact that Android 5.1 Lollipop also adds various bug fixes and enhancements.

It's unclear whether or not the new OS build is available via the Smart Switch">Samsung Smart Switch desktop software as well or Sprint is pushing Android 5.1 Lollipop only as an OTA update.

No word on the size of the update, but make sure your phone's battery is at least 50% charged prior to upgrading to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
