Qualcomm is prepping the announcement of its next-gen Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is the first to arrive with its own custom cores dubbed Kyro. And as it usually happens, Qualcomm is gradually revealing info about its upcoming products in order to build hype around them.

With this in mind, the company has just started a series of Snapdragon 820 countdowns, which detail various aspects regarding the new chip. As such, one of the things it has revealed so far is the GPU that will be used in the Snapdragon 820 processor, which is the Adreno 530.

The Adreno 530 is poised to deliver an increase in graphic performance of up to 40%, but also a 40% reduction when it comes to power consumption. Additionally, Qualcomm also teased the Image Signal Processor that will be part of the upcoming chip.

This will provide Spectra dual-IPS feature support for the newest 14-bit sensors that should help deliver a better color range. The processor also comes equipped with an improved framework for autofocus and overall algorithms that should enhance the camera performance.

While Qualcomm has already started to tease the features of the upcoming Snapdragon 820, it won’t be until December that the company starts shipping the SoC to its OEM partners. So the first devices bundling this platform should make it out into the wild starting in March 2016.
