Opera is certainly one of the most popular browsers for Android smartphones and tablets. The application has millions of downloads in the Play Store and a high 4.3 star rating, which certainly means that it’s popular among users.

Opera announced that the application received a software update with a redesigned UI, but it may take a while until changes are visible to all users. The browser now has a new and fresh look, inspired by Android’s material design.

The start page got a new layout, with the Speed Dial on the left of the carousel and the news feed on the right. Users can access their favorite topics at the top of the screen and make various adjustments using the tools provided inside the app.

The news feed now has a reader mode which can be customized under the Settings menu. Users can also access various content stored under their accounts, including offline pages, bookmarks, history of visited pages and downloads. Moreover, bookmarks, tabs, history and Speed Dial can be synched across several devices.

The three dots menu in the top-right corner of the browser opens various options that users can check out, including share functions and tools for searching words inside pages. Data savings can be toggled under the same menu and users are provided with ad blocker and video compression options.

Future updates to Opera will bring options for switching between tablet and normal layouts, changing news feed language, and selecting local download folders.
