The AT&T Nokia 1520 is getting said update

The Lumia Denim update was rolled out by Microsoft back in September 2014, and the new software added some interesting capabilities to the Lumia 830, like HDR imagining and 2K recording.

But owners of the AT&T version of the phone are still to see their device get the much craved update. And according to the most recent information, they never will.

How do we know that? A user has filed a complaint with AT&T’s Better Business Bureau, and in its reply, the carrier explains it has no intention of ever releasing the Denim update for this phone model. Even so, the build is available for the Lumia 1520 (as seen at Windows Central).

It’s quite a disappointment to see this happen to the Lumia 830, especially since AT&T has been known to be one of the most Windows Phone-friendly US carriers. Well, not in this particular case, it seems.

AT&T’s decision probably comes in the wake of slowing demand for the smartphone.

Still, it’s pretty ironic to see the Lumia 830 skip the update, especially since the handset was co-announced with the Denim update back at IFA 2014 in Berlin.

Hopefully, with Windows 10 Mobile coming out, US carriers will be more open to support the platform, but this remains to be seen. Microsoft’s next-gen mobile OS is expected to make a debut in a few months.
