Micromax is a prolific Indian smartphone maker that doesn’t miss the opportunity to roll out a phone or two every month or so.

Well, this week the company has just released the Canvas Xpress 2 E313, which is part of the Canvas series sold exclusively on Flipkart (as seen at Gizbot).

The handset comes bundling a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and draws power from a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor with Mali 450 GPU plus 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The handset sits in the middle-range category, but even so, there’s a 13MP main camera sitting on the back, which takes advantage of dual LED flash, plus a 2MP frontal snapper.

The Canvas Xpress 2 E313 runs Android 4.4. KitKat out of the box, but before you shake your head in disappointment, we have to tell you that the phone is apparently upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Like most smartphones announced in the country, the new Canvas Xpress 2 E313 features a dual SIM option.

Last but not least, we should mention that the handset relies on a 2,500 mAh battery to function.

Micromax is selling the new device with a Black with Gold trim paint job for $93 / €84. On top of that, those acquiring the phone will also be granted 500MB of free 3G data per month for 2 months (if you are a Vodafone customer). Sales start on August 4.
