Meizu is poised to launch a new premium device family

A few days ago, we told you that Meizu would probably scrape off the rumored MX5 Pro flagship, in order to focus on a new premium lineup of devices. Well, back when the MX5 Pro was still a possibility, we told you the phone would come bundling an Exynos 7420 chip produced by Samsung.

And now, popular analyst Pan Jiutang reveals that, even if the MX5 Pro is not going to happen, Meizu is sticking to its plans of using the Exynos 7420 in its upcoming flagship device (as seen at Gizmo China).

In case you don’t know, we’ll tell you that the Exynos 7420 is the same chipset currently powering the Galaxy S6 and the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphones.

Apart from this piece of information, the analyst goes on to say that the new Meizu flagship will arrive with a double-sided glass design and a metal frame. He even reveals the purported price of the device, which is said to be of around $484 / €444. This is a bit more than what customers are used to paying for Chinese flagships.

Even so, we’re still months away from actually seeing the new Meizu phone grace the market with its presence, so a lot might change until then. Apart from what we told you, there’s not much info about what Meizu has in store for us, but the device will probably don a QHD display, 4GB of RAM, and a USB Type-C port.
