Meizu is plotting some drastic changes for the company

Looking forward for the Meizu MX5 Pro, which leaked online not so long ago with a 6-inch display and an Exynos 7420 SoC just like the Galaxy S6? Well, sadly, we don’t have good news for you.

According to Gizmo China, Meizu’s VP Li Nan heavily hinted towards the fact that it was thinking of axing the MX Pro lineup altogether. So, that means no MX5 Pro model either. The thing is Meizu is ready to take things to the next level and no longer wants to be a small-time company.

With this goal in mind, the company is apparently working on a brand-new lineup of premium smartphones. While the new handsets are already in development, the company’s official notes that the devices will need at least 8 months of extra work in order to be ready for prime time.

Meizu might be hard at work trying to sediment its position as a major smartphone developer with a new high-end device, but it is also focusing its efforts on new budget models like the recently unveiled M2.

The phone features a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, a quad-core MediaTek processor inside, plus Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. It sells for the super affordable price tag of $96 / €85.
