The latest installment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, The Phantom Pain, has just made its way to PC and consoles. Along with the new game, Konami released a companion application for Android.

The new companion application for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is meant to be used as a support terminal to display maps and call in air support helicopters while playing the console version.

Keep in mind, though, that some of the features included in this companion application require a local Wi-Fi connection.

While not playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, those who use the companion application will be able to listen to music tracks featured within the game. This will be possible by playing up to a certain point using the iDROID mode.

Linking the application to the main game will allow you to navigate the world of Metal Gear Solid V by using the iDROID as a navigational system and support terminal for calling air support.

You can now download Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain companion application for Android for free via Google Play Store.

According to developers, the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.2 and up.

As mentioned earlier, some features require a local Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately, the application does not feature PC support yet, so it will only be useful for those who play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on consoles.
