Back at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Intel unveiled a number of new Atom chipsets that will power mobile devices from the most affordable to upper-middle range. The most budget-friendly devices will be based on the Intel Atom x3, which includes an integrated model with either 3G or 4G LTE connectivity.

This week, the first Intel Atom x3-powered phone surfaced in Malaysia. The device got launched by mobile operator SNS and will be sold through GLOO’s retail networks in the country. It is dubbed JOI Phone 5 and offers dual-SIM functionality, as reported by Liewcf.

The new handset takes advantage of a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 720p and it is equipped with a 64-bit dual-core Intel Atom x3-C3130 mobile chipset manufactured using a 28nm process. The silicone chip also integrates Mali-400P2 GPU and is fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

JOI Phone 5's specs also include an 8MP main camera and 2MP front-facing snapper, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 2,100 mAh battery.

Sadly, the phone bundles Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and we doubt there’s an Android 5.0 Lollipop update coming for it any time soon. On the bright side of things, however, the device is really cheap, costing just $106 / €95.
