You can also upload portrait and landscape videos as well

Since it was launched, Instagram was famous for using a square format for all its photos. This made it unique amongst all other photo-sharing apps, but also made it very annoying for more "artistic" users.

Today, the company is turning the page on this chapter of its life, and with version 7.5 of its Android and iOS apps, it will now let users upload landscape or portrait photos.

Some of you might think this ruins Instagram by taking away one of its more unique features, but it's not quite what you think.

Mock-ups provided by the Instagram team look as natural as they ever did, actually improving the service's appeal by showcasing more appropriately-cut photos, users having more screen realty at their disposal to showcase their photographic skills (or duck lips).

If you want to test it out, just open your Instagram app, go to your camera roll (the photo posting feature), and select an image.

A new button will appear in the bottom left section of your photo, which will toggle the photo posting format from square to the image's natural aspect ratio (portrait or landscape).

The change of format is also available for videos, which can now be shot using more natural aspect ratios.

Additionally, starting with the same 7.5 version, all image filters are now available for editing videos as well, allowing more customization options for video makers.
