Instagram is definitely one of the biggest social networks out there, focusing mainly on content that users share with their friends and followers. It has made a name for itself for having an abundance of food images, but in fact, the application is quite useful when it comes to helping photographers share their work. Now, Instagram has released some stats on its number of users and likes per day.

As it turns out, Instagram has reported that it now has 500 million users worldwide, and 300 million of them use the application every day. In addition, 80% of users currently reside outside the US, which means that the application is truly a global service.

The company also mentions that there are more than 100 million monthly actives in the US, and more than 95 million images and videos are shared every day. It has also specified that images posted on the network receive 4.2 billion likes per day on average.

Over the course of five years since its launch, Instagram has managed to get half a million users worldwide, with 100 million users since September alone.

In addition, Instagram was originally launched on iOS and remained exclusive on this platform until April 2012, when the Android version was released.

Since then, the application has received multiple updates and improvements, including last month’s new logo and redesigned apps. Just a few days ago, Instagram also rolled out a new algorithm that displayed “best posts” first.
