iRiver has just announced the upcoming availability of a pretty affordable 7-inch tablet, the WOWtab. The slate is likely to compete with Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, though we have some doubts when it comes to quality.

Anyway, those willing to give this one a try should know that iRiver WOWtab will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. More importantly, the tablet will be available for purchase for only $230/€170.

Furthermore, iRiver WOWtab sports a 7-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Hardware-wise, the slate comes equipped with an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 1GB of RAM. There’s no 3G support, but iRiver WOWtab offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB connectivity.
