Motorola decided to axe the feature before launch

You might remember that back in January, Motorola's CEO himself, Dennis Woodside, admitted that the Nexus 6 should have had a fingerprint scanner on its back.

What happened was that Apple moved a lot more quickly and purchased the best supplier of fingerprint scanners available on the market during that time, leaving Motorola out in the cold with its plans.

So, eventually, Motorola decided to drop the fingerprint scanner scenario, because the company wanted to offer a top-notch system not a second best.

Well, if you have been curious to see what the Nexus 6 with a fingerprint scanner on the back might have looked like, a bunch of leaked pictures provided by Phone Arena are here to give you an idea of the appearance the phone would have had if Google and Motorola would have stuck with the original plan.

The fingerprint scanner is located within the large dimple living on the back, as you can see for yourself in the images. The leak doesn’t show us the software aspect. Given that Android Lollipop does not have native support for fingerprint scanners, Google would have had to take advantage of some tricks in order to make the feature accessible.
