Allo is expected to be released pretty soon

Just a few days ago, Google released its video calling app Duo, which has already become the number 1 free app in the Play Store. However, during this year’s Google I/O, the company also announced a new messaging application, Allo.

Allo is expected to be released soon, as information on the app continues to surface online, with the latest showing that the application will be coming with a feature that allows users to delete messages from their chat history. Users will be able to select the message and simply delete it from the chat.

Android Police reports that the multiple select feature isn’t available just yet, but it could be provided later, considering that it has appeared in the beta testing phase of the app.

It seems that the top bar of the app can switch to display share, forward, copy and delete options for a selected message. Sent and received messages can be deleted with ease. The messages are removed from the device and account, but they’re still left on the recipient’s phone.

Another neat feature is that the application will offer to delete media contained in messages from the phone’s storage, not just the application. Messages sent through Allo can contain photos, videos, and even audio files.

The new feature resembles the tools that WhatsApp offers, but the delete option isn’t found in Google’s Hangouts app. Google has also recently stated that Hangouts will start focusing on enterprise users.
