14 DAY TRIAL // Facebook released a new application on iOS, one that would help users better manage events they wish to attend, see what events their friends are interested in, or view the calendar of upcoming events.
Facebook stated that hundreds of millions of events are shared on Facebook every year, and the company thus felt the need to provide users with a separate app that would help them manage upcoming events.
Facebook’s main app already had a section where users could browse through various upcoming events and see which friends would attend them. However, the Events app will incorporate various features and allow users to find events more easily.
The application opens with a list of events that friends are interested in, recently posted events on Pages that the user had liked, and updates from events the user connected to.
It also has a section with event recommendations for today, tomorrow, or the upcoming weekend. Moreover, events are arranged by time, location, and the user’s interests. The app allows everyone to explore events using an interactive map and users can search for events in cities around the world.
Events app incorporates a calendar that displays upcoming events and the schedule for the next few days. It comes with the option to choose calendars to add from the phone, to view them alongside Facebook events.
Actions taken inside the Events app will be visible and available on Facebook. The application is available in the App Store and a version for Android will be launched soon.
