The fine folks over at Dropbox have just released a new version of their Windows Phone application, which includes small visual and under-the-hood improvements.

Before getting into more details, keep in mind that only the Windows Phone 8.1 version of Dropbox has been updated recently. The application has been bumped to version 2.3 and developers added some tweaks and small improvements.

According to the official changelog, the update should improve the startup time of the application. Some improvements to the UI (user interface) have been made as well.

When it comes to Gallery, Dropbox users will be pleased to know that images are now grouped by date. Also, developers added incremental data loading to see more events in the Recents. In Text viewer, users will now be able to select the text.

Last but not least, some bug fixes and performance improvements have been implemented too, but no additional details have been provided on any of them.

You can now download Dropbox for Windows Phone 8.1 for free via Windows Store. The application should be compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1.

Keep in mind that while this version of Dropbox is a universal application, the changes that we mentioned earlier will only be available to Windows Phone 8.1 users, so if you qualify for this update start checking for it right now.
