One of the many popular third-party Twitter clients for Android, Carbon, has just received a major update that brings lots of new features and improvements.

The most notable seem to be the addition of GIF and videos support but also tweet quotes and Periscope previews. But these are not the only new features included in the newest update.

According to the official changelog, developers have also fixed the Notification bug for Mentions and Messages, as well as the Vine, Flickr, and Twitpic previews issue.

The multiple images display option has been brought back, while the iconography has been refreshed. The update also implements some mild Material Design visuals, as well as some general UI touch-ups.

Furthermore, developers have also added a brand new Trending Topics screen, as well as Article Mode, which is back and fixed on Browser screen.

Last but not least, the official changelog also mentions that the update contains some general stability and under-the-hood fixes.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Carbon for Twitter for Android for free via Google Play Store.

The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up. Keep in mind that Carbon for Twitter does no support Android tablets yet.
