BlackBerry is betting its life on the Priv smartphone

It’s no mystery that BlackBerry will soon unveil its first Android headset, which will be called Priv. While the company has already confirmed the device's existence and its CEO has been seen handling it live, we still don’t know when the phone will be launched.

But while we wait on that, a lucky Reddit user is reporting he had the chance of playing with the device a little bit. Apparently, he was at a conference where a BlackBerry executive was present and he happened to have a Priv. Supposedly, the company’s official was also quite happy to let the user play a little with the device.

So imsorandom reveals that the Priv is a very slender device, apparently thinner than the Galaxy Note5, which features a 7.5mm / 0.29 inch profile. The phone is expected to arrive with a 5.4-inch display with QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and 2.5D glass (curved on the sides).

The Reddit user also mentions that the camera was noticeably slow to shoot as it was trying to focus in the very low light hotel hallway he was in. The main snapper should bundle a sensor of 18MP variety.

The BlackBerry Priv will naturally offer Google Play Services access, although it’s not exactly clear weather the phone will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and how deep BlackBerry customization is going to be.
