In late May at the I/O 2015 conference, Google released the Android M Developer Preview for a few Nexus devices including the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player.

This means those who did not own one of the Nexus devices mentioned above were prevented from trying out the novelties that Android M brought to the table.

But today we bring good news for Sony Xperia owners. Sony is known to be keen on supporting third-party Android development for its family of devices, so this week, the company has announced it will be offering a stock AOSP build of the latest version of Android for a select number of devices.

As part of its Open Device program, Sony is now providing developers and other interested users with the necessary tools and instructions to get the Developer Preview of Android M up and running on a bunch of Xperia devices.

The Japanese company also released a video of the Xperia Z3 Compact running on the Developer Preview of Android M, as a teaser.

The other devices which now support the Developer Preview of Android M are the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra, and Xperia T3.
