We have to assume the update is coming soon

Motorola was one of the first companies to pick up the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their set of devices, and now with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out and about, we might be in for a similar scenario. Motorola users, rejoice!

Apparently, the Marshmallow update for the 2014 Moto X has just received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which has published some documents that reveal the update might be making its way to the device soon (as spotted at G for Games).

Yesterday, during its September press event, Google announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow would be released for supported Nexus devices starting October 5, which means the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus Player are bound to receive the new build in a few days.

Sadly, this means the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 10 will remain stuck at Android 5.0 Lollipop. But that won’t happen for the Motorola Moto X 2014. Given that Android 6.0 for the device has just got certified, we can assume the build has been completed or is in the final version of testing.

Either way Moto X 2014 owners won’t be left hanging for long. Interestingly enough, the more recent Moto X Style flagship launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, so could it be that last year’s flagship will get Marshmallow before this year’s top-tier? We’ll just have to wait and see.
