Android 5.1 Lollipop arrives on one more phone

We’ve been telling you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has started getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update in Russia, and the LG G2 is poised to receive the same treatment in a couple of months.

Slowly but surely, most the current flagships are being updated to the latest Google version. It’s the case of the HTC One M9 (Developer Edition) too, reports Android Police.

If you have purchased this device from the manufacturer, you can expect to see the new update arrive on your phone anytime now.

The update weights about 800MB and comes packed with the same bundle of goodies as the build Sprint started pushing to One M9 users a while back. The official changelog cites battery performance, data performance, and call performance improvements.

Most importantly, the new firmware brings optimizations in the temperature management department. Given the fact that the HTC flagship is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, this is a much needed measure.

The HTC One M9 Developer Edition is not a very popular device, so the update won’t probably be released in stages but will reach everyone at the same time.

The phone is a SIM-unlocked device that comes with an unlocked bootloader, so tinkerers can have some fun developing some custom ROMs and apps for the device.
