The lawsuit also involves the MediaPad X2

Last week, Huawei announced its latest flagship, the P8 smartphone, during a big media event. The handset makes a debut into the wild with a 5.2-inch IPS 1080p display, but its most interesting feature is the camera technology.

The P8 takes advantage of a camera sensor with four types of subpixels, including Red, Green, Blue and White.

This particular setup should make the snapper a lot more efficient in low-lighting environments. The main camera also benefits from optical image stabilization and can rotate up to 1.6°, which is double than what the iPhone 6 Plus camera can do.

Well, a few days later, we get word that Huawei’s camera technology inside the P8 might not actually be all that innovative.

According to Gizmo China, ZTE has filed a lawsuit against Huawei accusing the company of infringing two of its own camera patents with its P8 and MediaPad X2 products.

The two patents called into question are known as “Slow Shutter and Capture” and “Imaging and Mobile Terminal Tech.” ZTE has already sent an open letter to Huawei in which it asks the company to stop manufacturing and selling the two devices in question.

Huawei has yet to respond to these accusations, but the timing of this lawsuit couldn't be worse given the fact that the Chinese company has just rolled out the new P8 flagship.
