Yahoo’s email application for Android devices is not among the best in its class, on the contrary. Since it was launched on Google Play Store, people have been complaining about the sluggishness of the application.

Numerous bugs and issues have affected the application during its existence, but some have been patched via updates. This time, Yahoo has introduced new features into its email application, so users should expect it to be better.

Well, the first thing mentioned by developers is a new security enhancement, which is meant to block loading of images by default. This is exactly the opposite of what Google has done with Gmail in the last major update for its Android application.

However, Yahoo Mail users will be able to toggle this new security enhancement on or off within the Setting menu. Furthermore, Yahoo has confirmed that it has added “draft auto recovery” feature and various bug fixes, which haven’t been detailed.

Last but not least, the smartphone contact suggestion feature has been enhanced with smart rankings of contacts when composing a message.

In the same piece of news, Yahoo patched version 3.1 of its Mail application with yet another update, but this one only includes “stability and performance enhaccements.”

You can now download Yahoo Mail for Android 3.1.3 for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.2 and up.
