Owners of Sony’s Xperia Z smartphone on the network of Australian wireless carrier Telstra have now a specific date to look at when it comes to receiving the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS upgrade on their devices, namely July 15.

The wireless carrier posted on its website info on the software, claiming that it has already received it for testing, and that it expects to have it ready for deployment sometime in mid-July, after approving it at the beginning of the month.

This also means that the update might arrive on unbranded devices earlier than that, given that Telstra’s flavor of Xperia Z might pack custom firmware, as XperiaBlog notes.

Furthermore, the news site notes that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will land on Sony’s latest flagship model as firmware version 10.3.A.0.423. Stay tuned for more on this.
