Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting ready for the release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for more of its 2012 devices, and Xperia S is one of them.

The handset vendor is expected to kick off the upgrade process for the smartphone before the end of this month, and confirmation on the matter has already arrived, ubergizmo reports.

Responding to a user’s inquiry on the matter, Sony Mobile Germany has announced on Twitter that it would be kicking off the Jelly Bean deployment for the smartphone at the end of March, although no further details on this have been provided.

What remains to be seen is whether the new software will be released for users outside Germany as well. Based on Sony’s history with updates, it should become available in more European countries at the same time.
