Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone is already in the works and it should be unveiled sooner than anyone would have anticipated. After the first render of the so-called Mi5 leaked online last month, new info has now come to our attention and it might shed some light on the smartphone.

The folks over at PhoneArena report telecom analyst Sun Changxu expects Xiaomi to launch a very powerful flagship smartphone next year that will pack a 5.7-inch display with QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution.

The smartphone may be officially introduced as early as January, during CES 2015 trade fair, but we won’t be surprised if Xiaomi delays the announcement until Mobile World Congress, which is set to kick off in early March.

Moving on to hardware, the Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to pack Qualcomm’s 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset with Adreno 430 graphics processing unit.

There’s also a high chance that the Mi5 will be packed with an enhanced 20.7-megapixel main camera with Sony Exmor sensor, while the front-facing photo snapper should be of at least 5-megapixels.

Last but not least, in order to beat Samsung’s flagship smartphone, Xiaomi plans to price the Mi5 at only $325 (€265), though it’s highly unlikely. Stay tuned for more updates on Xiaomi’s Mi5 powerful smartphone.
