Xiaomi hosted a big media event in India today where it unveiled a brand new smartphone called the Mi 4i, which was inspired by the country’s legacy and culture.

The phone is a pretty amazing device selling for just $200 / €190 in India. For this amount of money, you’ll be treated to a 5-inch Sharp/JDI fully laminated display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (full HD), but not only.

Qualcomm India has built a second-gen Snapdragon 615 chip especially for this phone, which adds increased performance.

In the photography department, Xiaomi is using a 13MP rear camera boasting a Samsung or Sony sensor and dual-LED flash with one cold color diode and another warm color that fire both at the same time in order to bestow a more natural tonality to images snapped in low light. Up in front there’s a 5MP camera with f/1.8 lens.

That being said, the camera setup looks pretty great and you’re probably wondering what the phone can do in terms of photography. And the good news is that the first two camera samples have already leaked online and they look pretty amazing.

Xiaomi has also shared a few more details about the capabilities of the shooter, including the iPhone-reminiscent exposure compensation feature. Take a look at the gallery to see what you can do with it.
