2K Games and Firaxis have just announced at PAX East that the highly acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown turn-based strategy game will make its debut on iOS platform sometime this summer.

The game will feature the same challenging gameplay offered by the PC version, but with fewer battle maps due to the iPad’s file size limitations.

The iOS version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown features a slightly tweaked UI, but most of the layout will remain the same.

However, the iPhone iteration has been reworked in order to fit the most important commands and functions on a smaller screen.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is developed by 2K China and the work on the title started last year, as the PC and console versions of the game were finished, lead developer Jake Solomon told Polygon. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
