14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia is celebrating the 20th anniversary of world’s best known ringtone. The tune that your would recognize anywhere and anytime no matter what mobile phone you previously owned was released exactly 20 years ago, in 1994.
The Finnish company has just released an “a capella” version of the Nokia Tune, which was included for the first time on the Nokia 2110.
“Which came first, Nokia phones or the famous Nokia ringtone? The tune first appeared in the Nokia 2110, which was released in 1994. It might come as a surprise that the ringtone (also called Grande Valse) was composed in 1902 - a full 92 years before we released the 2110,” say Nokia in a short statement.
Previously one of the most prolific handset makers in the world for many years, Nokia’s history in the last few years has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but things seem to be getting better.
The ex-Finnish giant will soon be acquired by another giant, Microsoft, and Nokia’s future smartphones will be made under the strict supervision of the Redmond-based company.
