Samsung fans are starting to fret as their favorite company is yet to share official information related to the exact dates when it will start rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its flagships.

Since the Galaxy Note 4 is pretty new, we expect the device to be at the forefront of the update committee. But there might be a solid reason why Samsung is taking longer to update this particular model, even as the Galaxy Note 3 is apparently undergoing a soak test in Russia.

According to Sam Mobile's editor-in-chief, Faryaab Sheikh, the Galaxy Note 4 ROM might take longer to get ready because it remains at the mercy of Oculus VR, who are actively working towards “tweaking the kernel” in order to make it compatible with the Samsung Gear VR.

Samsung’s current Gear virtual reality headset is using the mobile display of the Galaxy Note 4, which takes advantage of a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED panel.

It makes sense that Samsung would want to release a complete Lollipop update for its flagship, but the fact remains that very few Galaxy Note 4 will actually end up being a part of Samsung’s Gear VR headset.

Or maybe Samsung has high hopes of making the Gear VR main stream.
