Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry might soon make its Blackberry Enterprises Service 10 (BES 10) Mobile Device Management Service available for more smartphones out there, including those running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform.

According to a recent article on Economic Times, Sunil Lalvani, managing director for Blackberry in India, is the one to confirm plans on the matter.

Initially designed to work only with Blackberry devices, BES has expanded its reach recently, with BES 10 offering support for Android and iOS as well. Soon, the platform will work with Windows Phone devices too, Lalvani said.

BES 10 provides IT administrators with increased control over the employees’ devices, including the option to remotely wipe or lock smartphones, so as to ensure that sensitive data in kept secure.

With Windows Phone gaining more ground on the market, it was only a matter of time before such services were made available for the platform as well.
