Microsoft will have enough time to roll out CardDAV and CalDAV support to WP8

Google and Microsoft have announced that Google’s Sync service will remain accessible to Windows Phone users until December 31, as the Internet giant decided to extend the support for the Exchange ActiveSync protocol for several more months.

Initially set to drop access to Calendar and Contacts syncing on January 30 this year, Google has agreed to extend the period to July 31 to allow Microsoft to pack Windows Phone 8 with CardDAV and CalDAV support, and it seems that the term has been pushed back once again.

“We’ve reached an agreement with Google to extend support for new Windows Phone connections to the Google Sync service through December 31, 2013,” a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge.

Although Microsoft has already added CalDAV and CardDAV to the latest Windows Phone 8 update, devices have yet to receive the new software, and five months should offer enough time for that.
