Windows Phone handsets have been around since October 2010, and are available at different price tags, though none will require breaking the back to make a purchase.

However, it seems that much cheaper phones are bound to hit the shelves soon, most probably targeted at emerging markets.

One of their features will be a lower amount of RAM, only 256MB, only half of what Windows Phone devices sport today. They are also expected to sport less internal memory, most probably cut down to as much as 2GB.

256MB of RAM is the minimum Microsoft’s requirements feature, but handsets usually feature double than that.

These devices will run under a new flavor of Windows Phone. Dubbed Tango, it should arrive in the next few months with support for 800MHz processors and 3MP cameras as well.
