Windows Phone Store, the one stop portal for owners of Windows Phone devices interested in the download of applications and games, has reached 2 billion downloads not long ago, Microsoft has unveiled.

Moreover, the company announced that it managed to add the last billion downloads during the last six months, although it needed about three years to reach the first billion.

Microsoft has succeeded in expanding the reach of its app store to users in 191 markets, though not all of them have access to paid applications as well.

“Windows Phone is growing every day and we’re working hard to make it even easier for developers of all types and skill levels to get started,” the company notes in a blog post.

Microsoft is also working on expanding carrier billing deals, given that developers can earn more money in markets where the option is available.
