Windows Phone 7.8, the operating system flavor that Microsoft is preparing for the devices running under Windows Phone 7.5 at the moment, will become available for users in early 2013.

Nokia has already said that it would be pushing the update to its Lumia devices at that time, and Windows Phone Russia confirmed these plans too.

Responding to an inquiry on the availability of the OS upgrade, Windows Phone Russia posted on Twitter that the update is indeed planned for release in early 2013.

No further details on the matter have been provided, but it might not be too long before specific info is unveiled.

Windows Phone 7.8 will bring along some of the features that WP8 was packed with, including the new Start Screen and Lock Screen, along with other enhancements.
