In addition to the high-end Windows Phone 8X by HTC, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker also unveiled its second Windows Phone 8 device today, the 8S.

Aimed at the mid-level of the market, the new phone comes with a 4-inch Super LCD WVGA display with Gorilla Glass, while being powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset.

The phone was unveiled with 512MB of RAM inside, as well as with a 5-megapixel f/2.8 camera with 720p HD video recording, 4GB of internal storage, and a microSD memory card slot to expand it.

WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, GPS, and a digital compass were also included in the mix, along with LTE connectivity for the North American market and four color options: Domino, Fiesta Red, Atlantic Blue, and High-Rise Gray.

The same as HTC’s 8X, this smartphone will land on shelves starting with November through various wireless carriers.

"Pairing HTC's beautiful new Windows Phone 8X and 8S with our brand is a big milestone for both companies," said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. "Together we are offering customers a clear choice and a truly unique experience. I'm thrilled to take our longstanding partnership to the next level."
