Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform is expected to receive a Spotify application in the not too distant future, although no specific release date for it has been provided as of now.

The Spotify mobile client hasn't been present in the list of apps available for the new mobile operating system, yet it seems that Microsoft is working on having it available for download as soon as possible.

Anna Ström, product marketing manager for Windows Phone in Sweden, has confirmed on Facebook that work in this direction is being made, wingadget.se reports.

Calling Spotify a "must-have" app for the platform, Anna Ström posted on the Swedish Windows Phone Facebook page that it would be released on Windows Phone 8 sooner rather than later. Keep an eye on this space for more updates on the matter.
