There have been lots of rumors around Microsoft's next major update for Windows Phone 8 devices, GDR2 and some handset makers already announced they will skip it for various reasons.

Taiwanese company HTC announced last week it will not offer customers who purchased the 8X smartphone the possibility to upgrade their handsets to GDR2.

However, the handset maker confirmed a few days later it will bring the next major upgrade, GDR3 to HTC 8X devices when the update gets released.

Australian carrier Telstra is one of the first to unveil Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update will be submitted for testing in late November.

The update is meant to be pushed to HTC 8X units purchased via Telstra, but we can safely assume it will be available worldwide in later 2013 or early 2014. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
