Owners of Windows Phone 8.1 devices out there who also have Cortana enabled should see a brand-new feature available for them when launching the digital personal assistant, namely Local Events.

Apparently, Microsoft has performed yet another server-side update to Cortana to add said new feature to it, roughly a week after it was updated with stock prices and charts.

Following the new update, Windows Phone 8.1 users will find Events listed under Interests, which are user preferences that Cortana stores in her notebook, and which usually include news, weather, travel, sports, finance, and more.

Courtesy of the new Events feature, users will receive suggestions for local events in a wide variety of categories, which include community, dance, music, food and dining, and more.

As soon as this option has been enabled, Cortana will suggest happenings that might interest you, as WPCentral notes. The release of this update shows that Microsoft is interested in turning Cortana into a digital assistant that is as personal as possible.

In fact, the Redmond-based company has already proven that this is its intention, considering the variety of updates that Cortana has already received. Soon, more such new features should be pushed to users, to further enhance their experience.
