At the end of July, Microsoft officially confirmed plans to start rolling out the new Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 platform iteration to the owners of Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview devices as soon as this week, and you can now have a look at some of the features that this update will arrive with.

A video meant to showcase some of the capabilities that Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 will land on devices with has been published online, and you can see it embedded below.

One thing that you should know right from the start, however, is the fact that it shows the Chinese version on the upcoming platform upgrade, and that it was shot at low resolution.

Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 can be seen demoed on a Nokia Lumia 1520 in the aforementioned video, and you will be able to learn more on what Live Folders will be all about, as well as on what Cortana in Chinese will look like.

The update will make Cortana available in China in a beta version, but it will also bring it to other markets out there, including the UK, Canada, India, and Australia. However, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 will deliver other improvements as well.

As mentioned above, only users currently on Developer Preview devices will receive the update. As previously reported, the new platform iteration will be automatically delivered to them.
