Microsoft's Joe Belfiore confirmed a few days ago that Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview would be available for download beginning early next week.

This means that, assuming that you have a Studio App account, you will be able to download the latest version of Windows Phone on your device starting April 14 or April 15.

The Redmond-based company announced and detailed some of the most important new features included in Windows Phone 8.1 earlier this month at BUILD 2014 developer conference.

However, some of the features announced will not make it to Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, but will be launched later on.

One such feature is the lock screen theming application, which will not be included in the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, according to Joe Belfiore.

Those who were expecting the APIs for the live theme pack for the lock screen will have to wait a bit longer, until they are released by Microsoft.

For the time being, Belfiore claims that he doesn't know when exactly they will be released, which probably means that Microsoft has yet to set a timeframe for that.

The only thing we know so far is that it “will come later.” Stay tuned for more details on Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview.
