Windows Phone 7.8, the next platform update that owners of Windows Phone 7.5 devices are expected to receive, should become available for download in the coming weeks, Microsoft China claims.

Greater China Vice President of Microsoft Corporation was the one to say this, in an interview with Beijing newspaper BJD, WMPoweruser reports.

He also confirmed that Windows Phone 8 handsets are set to arrive in the country as soon as next month, just as previous reports suggested.

Apparently mobile phone users in China will be able to purchase both Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8 devices for a while, something that should actually happen in other markets around the world as well.

The launch of Windows Phone 8 in the country will receive support from handset vendors such as Nokia Corporation, Samsung Electronics, HTC Corporation and Huawei Technologies Co., he also said.
