An updated flavor of the Wikipedia application is now available for download for the owners of Windows Phone devices, namely version 2.3.0.2.

The new app iteration comes to handsets with an appealing new feature packed inside, namely support for Cortana, the digital personal assistant in Windows Phone 8.1.

This should result in a much better experience for the owners of devices already running under the new operating system flavor, given that Cortana is the main attraction in the platform.

The new Wikipedia for Windows Phone flavor continues to provide users with a great deal of features, including NFC sharing, voice command and speech recognition, and support for Live Tiles.

The mobile app allows users to search in 100 languages, while also packing an offline mode, so that users could view articles even when they do not have an Internet connection. It also includes support for Pocket (formerly Read It Later) and Instapaper.

Other features of the application include the possibility to view Wikipedia articles around your location, view a summary of the article, find previous versions of it, and share content to Facebook, Twitter, by mail or by generating a QRCode.

You can download Wikipedia for Windows Phone from Softpedia today. The application should work great on all Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
