WhatsApp, one of the most popular cross-platform instant messengers, is likely to receive another update on Windows Phone platform. Developers plan to improve the overall user experience with a few more tweaks and new features, though we’re not sure when they will be implemented.

According to WMPoweruser, WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone will be improved with additional Delivery Status updates. Basically, this means that you will get a status update as soon as one of your contacts receives a text, image or audio file.

However, the new status includes strings like “played by” and “played,” which are completely new and will kick in once a user plays a video or a music file.

The information emerged online recently via WhatsApp translation strings, so it might take a while until developers add it to the application via a new update.

The good news is these tweaks will eventually be implemented once developers come up with enough to group them in an update. We suspect the new Status Updates will not be added to Windows Phone version of WhatsApp solely.

In fact, Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp Messenger are likely to receive a new update ahead of the Windows Phone platform. Stay tuned for more on this one.
