The update is now rolled out silently, in stages

Good news for WhatsApp Messenger users expecting the voice calls feature to arrive on their smartphones. Developers have just flipped the switch on the new feature and they now allow everyone to make use of it.

We've just received an update to WhatsApp for Android, which did not say anything about the changes it brings, but upon further inspection we found a new Calls tab that allows you to make voice calls via WhatsApp.

We have already tested the new feature, and as long as you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, you shouldn't have any issue in making and receiving voice calls through WhatsApp Messenger.

The update hasn't been released in Google Play Store, but WhatsApp seems to roll out the latest version of their application to all supported Android smartphones.

Given the fact that the update is rolled out in stages, it should take some time until it reaches all WhatsApp users. If you received a WhatsApp update in the last few days, make sure you look for the Calls tab if you want to make voice calls.

Keep in mind that the Voice Calls feature is only available for Android devices. WhatsApp is now testing the new feature on iOS, but it will take a few weeks until it gets released.
