Owners of a Nokia smartphone running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system are now able to download and install the latest flavor of WhatsApp Messenger on their devices, an app that was launched as part of a collaboration between the developers and Nokia.

WhatsApp 2.8.10 landed in the Windows Phone 8 Store late last week, yet a recent post on Nokia Conversations explains how the app was brought to Microsoft’s latest mobile OS flavor.

“The developers were working with Nokia to produce a version that is properly optimized for the latest Windows Phone platform experience,” said post reads.

To set up the app, users need to download and install it, then verify their phone number with the code received from the company via SMS.

WhatsApp is a cross-platform app, enabling people to connect to other WhatsApp users regardless of their mobile OS.
