Some countries are not affected by the issues yet

In the last couple of months there have been many issues with WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messengers for mobile devices. The good news is most the problems were only affecting a rather small percentage of users, but starting earlier today it looks like the issues have spread to many countries.

Europe seems to be less affected by these issues, but many users in the States and other countries report WhatsApp is down and that they can't receive or send any messages.

Obviously, WhatsApp has yet to issue an official statement, even though there are many users who are unable to use the service. We've noticed that the service is currently down in Hong Kong, India (or parts of it), Germany, Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Canada, Spain, Italy and Singapore.

However, as of last hour, WhatsApp services seem to have been restored in Turkey and Belgium. We're not sure if this is only temporary, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the matter and update the news with new information.

Luckily, there are so many alternatives on the market that communication won't be an issue. Given that this is not the first time WhatsApp is down, we suggest mobile phone users take into consideration other apps as backups.

UPDATE: Services seem to have been restored worldwide. There might be some exceptions, but these will probably be fixed soon as well.
