An updated version of WhatsApp Messenger is now available for download for those users who are part of the company’s beta testing program, with some appealing new features packed inside, it seems.

According to WPCentral, the new app version comes with the option to set custom backgrounds for chat notifications, under Chat Settings > Background.

Users will be able to select any photo they like to be set as the custom background, as they are presented with the following options: take a photo, choose from albums, search the web, and delete existing photo.

In addition to this new feature, the application also comes with a modified Settings page, which appears cleaner than before, and which is in line with Microsoft’s OS design.

For the time being, these features are available only for the latest private test build of WhatsApp, but it might not be too long before they arrive in the final release, so stay tuned.
